On March 12, 2015, Jennifer Morgan, president of SAP North America, spoke at Drexel University, a member of the SAP University Alliances program. Nearly 250 people, including students and faculty, heard Jen share her strategic insights on three big changes in technology that are impacting the global economy.
The first big change is the move to real-time decision making. Using the concept of the transition from cassette tapes to the iPod, Jen artfully explained the impact that SAP HANA has on businesses of all sizes when it comes to gaining a competitive advantage through the ability to make decisions based on data at any given point in time. She explained that data is now useful in ways it never has been before and this creates unprecedented opportunity.
The second big change is the move to the cloud. By 2016, International Data Corporation predicts that 80 percent of the world’s 2,000 largest companies will use the cloud for all of their IT processes. Jen shared that the cloud leads to simplicity, and this has a real impact on employees as well as the financial health of any company.
The third big change is the Business Network. Using the example of eBay and Ariba, Jen discussed the ways in which businesses are connecting to businesses through the network. She shared that this is going to be even bigger than social networks, and create huge opportunities for businesses of any size.
