Hi Education community...

I hope you all know that SAP is not only delivering its trainings in the traditional "Classroom-Training" format but also in many other formats like "Virtual-Live-Classroom", "E-Learnings", "E-Academy", "I-Pad based" and so on... See https://training.sap.com/v2/catalogue/by-delivery-method for more details about the differences.

In Germany we will start to roll out a new method to deliver the "Virtual-Live-Classroom" (VLC) trainings. Before I go into details I want to describe the actual way we deliver it for all of you who have not attended a VLC training.

As participant you connect to the instructor via a desktop sharing tool and a telefon conference. In addition you log on to a WTS session to get access to the training system. That means you can hear the instructor and follow whatever he does on his screen.

But what is missing? Why are many participants that easily distracted from the training? Why is the learning experience so different compared to a normal classroom setup?

The answer is simple... At least half of the communication is "lost" because you cant see your instructor how he says something and what he is pointing at. When he smiles and where he is looking at.

With a little change in the setup of the VLC class we will bring back the instructor to you. It simply takes a 3D camera and a little bit of software called

Personify Live™.

Here is a screen how it might look like on your side as participant in one of the sessions...

It's me presenting BOD310 / SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 🙂

You can watch some demo videos from Personify.com at youtube like that one or on their homepage https://personifyinc.com/

We will deliver the first VLC training in Germany starting in November, I will post a list of courses here as soon as it is available. I hope other countries will follow our approach and will bring that new VLC experience to you soon. Stay tuned for updates.

These courses will be the first delivered in the new VLC version:
