A recent survey by IDT(Initiative for Digital Transformation) suggests that Digital Transformation has found its way into companies’ business agendas, but companies are not prepared yet. While Digital Transformation offers plenty of opportunity to achieve a competitive advantage, future success largely depends on adequate skills to explore these opportunities.
Only 17% companies say that they have the personnel with skills necessary for the Digital Transformation. Just to give you some examples: many business executives are lacking technology expertise, whereas many IT executives need to increase their business expertise.
This also means that companies will need to invest in a new and diverse set of skills in the area of mobile, social, cloud, security, big data as well as business change management for the digital transformation.
Think about your company: are you prepared for the Digital Transformation? Have you identified your own learning needs? And do you have a plan in place to close a potential skills gap?
