The Hasso-PIattner-Institute Future Service Oriented Computing (SOC) Lab in Potsdam provides researchers with free of charge access to a complete infrastructure of state of the art hard- and software in cooperation with its industrial partners (EMC², Fujitsu, HP, and SAP).
This infrastructure includes SAP’s In-Memory Computing appliance SAP HANA, SAP Business Suite on HANA, Business Objects Products, a 1000 core compute cluster, servers with up to 64 cores and 2 TB RAM, products from HP’s “Converged Cloud” portfolio, the SAP Netweaver Cloud, and OpenStack Cloud offerings. Access to the resources of the Future SOC Lab is granted based on the approval of project proposal, which any researcher may submit.
You are kindly invited to send us your project proposals explaining how you would like to make use of these offerings during the HPI-Future-SOC-Lab-Spring-2013 period. Submission deadline for project proposals is March 31, 2013. Please use this mail address for submissions or further questions: futuresoc-lab-info@hpi.uni-potsdam.de. The Spring-2013 period begins on April 10th and ends after six months.
Topics of particular interest for the HPI Future SOC Lab include but are not limited to:
- Service-oriented computing (SOC) systems and efficient management of
concurrency and memory,
- Cloud Computing including topics such as security, elasticity, and
scalability,
- New applications using latest hardware and storage technology and
