Anne, tell us about yourself.
Who are you, what do you like to do, what is important to you?

My name is Anne Johnson, and I am 33 years old. Others might describe me as creative, ambitious, empathic and energetic. My life philosophy is to aim for completing one big project each year. Whether that is publishing a book, building a piece of furniture or painting a house, give a speech about, or simply making a painting. Continuously improving and creating is important to me. This means that I spend a lot of time on my creative hobbies, which are: botany/gardening, and art-making. My latest aspiration is to write and draw a children's book that is inspired by my own experiences as a child living in different countries. Not to mention to make a book visualizing the Design Thinking process for big businesses with big IT projects.

What is your area of expertise?
What does a usual day at work look like for you?

My expertise has three areas. Part User Experience design, part Business Innovation and part Workshop Facilitation. Each area is a whole practice in itself. Being a UX designer requires researching, conducting interviews, sketching and prototyping, testing and refining usability for front-end designs. Business Innovation is usually contacting partners and potential collaboration partners, setting up business events, managing and collecting feedback from participants. Being a Workshop facilitator is about preparing and structuring workshops with sharp precision, facilitating the workshops with focus on outcome, and collecting/analyzing data and making presentations while preparing for next workshops. My work has some overlap between the areas, but they can be wildly different at times. Luckily for me, all three areas of work are recognized as important for the continuous journey of our company's growth. However, all three parts are considered quite 'soft' skills areas, and very little SAP technology specific. My SAP technology specific skills are within Fiori and front-end development.

What inspired you to become an SAP Champion in SAP Community?

I worked hard to spread the gospel of SAP Design Thinking after it got announced and became canon of the SAP projects process, teaching others about it. Frequenting SAP Inside Tracks and meet-ups, both to present as well as get to know others and better understand their challenges and experiences. I got recognized and became an SAP Champion due to my work with helping others use and learn about SAP Design and Design Thinking. It was also due to wanting to learn from others and spend time listening to others and forge friendships across companies and countries. I think the SAP Community is a great place for fostering connection between people and expertise, specially because SAP gathers the very best of experts from all around the world. The community allows me to connect with that.

How do you learn in SAP Community?
What is your daily/weekly routine in SAP Community?

I frequent the get-togethers that are physical, either locally or popping in at SAP Stammtisches, SAP Inside Tracks that happen around the world. This was especially true before COVID-19 hit, however now the travel has been halted a bit and the meet-ups frequency have dropped. My work and my interests are best utilized with physical meet-ups, due to the nature of Workshops and design research. My wish is to push for SAP Inside Track Copenhagen to continue yearly, as well as making the Stammtisch relevant again in Denmark.

What is your suggestion to get the most out of SAP Community?

The SAP community is part the things you find online, part the people you meet, and part the mentality we SAP'ers have. I think tt is a special kindness that those who work with SAP possess. My suggestion to you is to take the time and reach out to others. Whoever you are in need of, or have interest in getting to know. Whether it is someone who lives on the other side of the world or someone who works in the building next to yours. You will find that the SAP Community has a great inclusion that you will find nowhere else. If you are looking to learn, I will always recommend you to check out the open resources and courses available, as well as the forums for questions and discussions.

Arrow_pictogramm_new.pngAnne's question to you:

When was the last time you had proper fun at an SAP project, without the feeling of rushing to meet your deadlines with the terrorizing weight of stress on your shoulders?

My hope for the future is to be at the forefront of creating and facilitating knowledge-sharing in projects to avoid the dreaded project-killers: misalignment and miscommunication.
