Migration roadmap from ECC to S4/HANA with two SIDs

Hello Experts,

I'm currently studying a client with a tipical architecture: 2 System ID's, one for IS-U data and a second for other ECC data (FI, CO, SD, etc). Is there any constraint, document, recomendation, notes or insights by SAP regarding the usage of one client when migrating to a private cloud?

Thank y'all in advance.

Hello @KelberMonteiro,

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, multiple instances are not a constraint. There are several reasons why a customer may decide to have more than one productive system, and SAP allows those scenarios.

Hello @KelberMonteiro,

Like Jose replied this is indeed supported by SAP. However, I think that it is important to ask the following question:

Is there still a need to have 2 system ID´s (instances)? (I have also seen this architecture often, but in max 50% of the cases this architecture was really needed)

  • If yes,
    • Conversion at the same moment or on different moments?
  • If no,
    • What is the impact on the brownfield approach?
    • Which system will become the master ? (without knowing the complete context I would say that ISU is the master and that this one could be migrated via a brownfield approach)

Good luck with your study. Curious about the outcomes of it.

Regards,

Pieter
