Hi everyone,

I was removing a meter from an installation, but it was taking so much time around two hours.

Could anyone please tell me what could be the reason and how we can make it more fast?

Thanks and Regards

Hello Birendra,

it is not the problem of a functional guy.

its the problem related to the server usage.

speed depends on the no. of users accessing the server.

while accessing the screens at first time, then it takes time for to read the tables.

for ths, consult ur Basis team.

Hi,

While i was changing a simple meter reading in a MRO at that time it is taking 30 minutes.

Please suggest me some way to make it fast.

Thanks and Regards

Mahavir,

I'd suggest you to look into SM37 again. If any huge batch jobs are running in the back ground even usual transactions takes time.

Also during application of a new patch, even normal / simple programs too wud take time.

So I suggest you to look into SM37.

Hope this helps

Hello,

Have you analyzed the job via SM37?

Also look for the logs if any in SLG1.

Hope this helps

Hello Birendra,

check out this....

Is the speed is affecting only that particular scenario or to all the processes?

Hi,

There is no other process is executing.....and i have also seen in sm37...i am finding this type of problem only in those cases where after removal of old meter and a new meter is installed to any installation....and then we are making changes to their meter reading through EL29....at that time it takes very long time.....

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

I would suggest switching on the trace using transaction ST05 and then executing the Meter removal transaction or the Meter Reading entry and thereafter switch off the trace in ST05 and analyze which table is being hit for so long. I have seen meter removal taking longer time when there are multiple registers attached to the meter. Also please check if the logical device numbers are not having any conflict. You could figure this out if the EASTL query is taking a longer time. Hope this helps...

Yuvi.

A very good answer Yuvaraj. Yes one can analyze DB tables using Trace.

hello Birendra,

If we cosider the speed affecting while taking the meter reading results that is when under device replacement. Then we have a solution for this.

please check this

spro>sap utilities>Device Management>Meter reading>Basic settngs>Define control parameters for meter reading data processing>

select your company code and division

see the control data

deselect the check boxes of

Consider device repalcement

Device replacement dialog

but you have to mention the NOTE with control function 05 while taking the meter reading result.

Please let me know if there any further issue reagarding this....

Hi,

with ECC 602 I think there is also a function available where you can install or replace meters without any meter reading in the first place. Otherwise I think just an update at database side might help --> or use SE14 to actualize tables and indices on table EABL and EABLG. Furthermore the ST05 trace should be used anyway - maybe a wrong access path due to wrong storage parameters is used.
