ISU upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 (CIC)

Hello there

We are currently going for an upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

Can anyone of you provide some insight on whether the frontoffice and other configuration in 4.6C have any kind of impact on ECC 6.0? Basically I can see that there are new functionalities in ECC6.0 for CIC . But will the current config lin 4.6C like action box , move in/out processes, owner allocation etc will be impacted after the upgrade?

Thanks

Gautam

Hi,

Just to let you know SAP may end support to CIC within ECC soon. The way forward is SAP-ISU + CRM

I wasn't respondible for the CIC part myself during the last upgrade project, but I haven't heard of any specific issues concerning CIC compatibility between 4.6 and 6.0.

As always, the crucial points during an upgrade are custom developments, so if you have a lot of action boxes with custom abap behind, you might accounter some (technical/ABAP) issues. If you use standard business objects and calls, I think the issues will be minimal.

Hi

In that case, we currently have a seperate box for CRM but are not utilising it. SAP had configured ISU for us way back. What you are suggesting is that we use the CRM CIC as way forward?

Hi

What is the version of CRM which referred above (which you said you are not using at the moment) ?

Thanks,

Hi,

as far as I know there was no impact reported during upgrade regarding the CIC so far. BUT as already stated above, CIC might not be supported much longer in IS-U, newer development is not available at all. CRM CIC could be used instead - but maybe it's even better to check if the IC WebClient can be used. There will be new developments in that area as well. So for a start it should be ok to start with IS-U CIC, but in the near future you should consider a change.

Hi

As per my knowledge, the functionalities in CIC0 of ECC6.0 (provided for ISU) are very limited, compared the functionalities in CIC0 of 4.6C. More over, SAP is encouraging customers to move toward new technologies such as WebClient Screen.

Since you already have plans to upgrade to ECC 6.0, you might choose a combination of ISU on ECC6.0 with CRM WebClient Screen as your customer interaction application.

Thanks,

Hi Gothic,

We are also planning to upgrade this month from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. It would be very nicce if we can share the information and the experineces.

We will do the upgrade in a pilot system.

We will have a new hardware with windows server 2003 64 bit and oracle oracle 10.2.0.2.0. than we will install oracle and SAP 4.6C and after that we want to export the Database from the production system to the pilot system. after that we upgrade the pilot system to ECC 6.0 to test first.

I do not know if there is an easyer way to do the upgrade or at least the test. Maybe a homogenouse system copy...?

Best regards

Atik
