Hi Guys,
We are in the process of assessing the scope of work with our client on integrating SAP ISU with Plant Maintenance. As i am not an expert in PM, request if anyone can throw light as to what questions should be asked to the client to assess PM scope as well as it integration with SAP ISU.
Thanks

Hi Amitav,
to know what you should ask you should know were the "interfaces" between IS-U and PM are: the main "interface" is the IS-U device which is called in PM equipment.
Definition: a piece of equipment is an independent technical object (such as a device, machine or installation) that is used to carry out services.
Equipment number = internal device number that is different in every client.
Integration if IS-U with the PM component:
- Logistics/Plaint Maintenance: device installation and removal at the functional location (in IS-U: device location)
- Maintenance/Customer service: Process work orders in Work Management
Another interesting topic could be the use of Alternative labeling. In PM (plant maintenance and customer service), you can use alternative
labeling systems for functional locations. But these alternative labeling systems are not provided with the standard product for the IS-U connection object and device location. You can read SAP note 964931 for more details.
Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Amitav,
The question about SAP PM Scope is quite wide but I guess the following points should be kept in mind while discussing with the client regarding SAP PM scope in ISU.
SAP PM will form part of the Work Management scope within ISU, here there are similar sort of activities shared between SAP PM and the Device Management (DM), which is specific to ISU and has been created by using SAP PM functionality and adding enhancement to it.
1. Work on if cost is being considered. SAP PM most of the times deals with cost, unless there are revenue nature of financial implications which arise due to the revenue nature i.e. Customer Service (CS) part of PM. So work from the perspective of Accounts Receivables (AR) in case service is being provided in which case you will have to think about the configuration of the service orders and Accounts Payable (AP) which are of costing nature in which case you will have to consider how this financial aspect would be dealt with in ISU.
2. Interfaces with the legacy systems usually, widens or broadens the scope of SAP PM implementation as this would mean that a middle ware or development of offline updates which systems like GIS or other legacy systems should be considered.
3. Use of inventory management, which has a relation with the use of SAP PM, where spares for maintenance are used and aspects such as creation of equipment during GR of material and any financial implication associated to this process.
4. Use of Asset numbers with SAP PM technical objects. Assets are usually closely related to AM part where, depreciation needs to be calculated on the Assets of the organisation. Also keeping in view the way Assets needs to be treated in the system (usually depends on the client requirements and Incorporating Capitalization of assets in the process)
Hope this helps in getting some starting points.
Thanks
