Device Info Records are many a times used in case you would not need to maintain a material in MM or an equipment in PM.
This finds a practical usage mainly where the only purpose is billing. E.g the Fixed voltage points, where in there is no need of a meter to measure the consumption as fixed units of electricity will be provided (e.g street lighting) .But still, there will be billing involved for this Installation or POD. Hence to assign different rates, carry out billing of those installations, we create Device Info Records, which maintains a minimal data in SAP R/3 and only the ISU billing relevent data.
