How to Change Material Serial Number (IQ02) for ISU Equipment

Hi Experts,

We have a number of materials (IS-U device) that were created in IQ01 but apparently have incorrect serial numbers saved. What can we do to correct the serial numbers that were previously save?

We tried in IQ02, Edit > Special Serial functions > Change serial no., but every time we do that (even if we already have SAP_ALL profile), we get a message, ""This function is not permitted for IS-U equipment, Message no. EG018""

Hope you could help us with this. And thank you in advance.

Hello Sapmasterbro,

I remember i had the same issue before and I've created a dummy material/device category to solve this. I change the material number allocated to the serial number to the dummy one( function to do this in IQ02). Then I created the correct devices again.

Thanks,

Dimmak

Did you do this for "I" equipment types?

Serial number maintenance isn't supported for IS-U devices.

Best process to get rid of the erroneous equipment records would be to delete them.

  1. set the deletion flag for the equipment
  2. run RIARCEQV (direct report for equipment archival prep)
  3. run RIARCEQA (direct report for equipment archival file)
  4. run RIARCEQD (direct report for equipment archival)

alternatively you can assume that if the serial numbers are wrong, then you may simply ignore them as erroneous master data. in which case, the setting of the DLFL INAC status in IQ02 would be sufficient.

that will prevent installation:

Equipment status does not allow installation Message no. IA021
