Chandramohan,
EDM is used for calculating energy charge on a time interval which could be on peak or off peak. EDM is primarily used for commericial customers.
Withinn EDM you will require to create profiles which store the consumption values and you could have a price profile which store the price value (rate ) for the respective consumtion based on the time. Using function module you carry out the multiplication and get the energy charge.

Implementing Energy Data Management has following advantages
1.Scalability and ability to create parallels : Scope of EDM can change according the customer requirement EDM data storage system can manage data ranging to large terabytes Business process that processes mass data and therefore require high processing speed ,can be processed in parallel.
2. Open system architecture : For many companies EDM is central point for all primary and energy profile
3. Integration : EDM is fully integrated with utilities application and other R/3 application .The profile can directly be updated from the third system to EDM ,which can be used for Material planning and procurement processes
4. Across Location : The customers spread across countries are benefited by EDM because of its international capacities
