Changing Schema in existing Rate category

All,

I have one question. and not sure if it will work fine. That is the reason posting here. For any information, please let me know.

I have one Rate category A and currently having schema X in this. Now there is new requirement to change the schema under that Rate category A to new Schema Y. Just wondering if it will work. And what could be the impact of existing installations wherein these Rate Categories are already used.

Need information urgently.

Thanks,

Tripti

Hi Tripti,

Yes, you can change the schema in the change mode.

Impact : the rate determination would become inconsistent. Rate Category and schema have 1:1 relationship. the rate determination has the rates defined in the schema steps for the period. Now if the schema is changed you don't have the same rates defined in the rate determination. So the rates to be used for billing the installation become incorrect. you will get the error when Billing happens.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Thanks Rakesh for the inputs. My concern is I am not editing current schema. But replacing new schema into that current Rate category. so, If I take care of rate determination, then will it work?

Hi Tripti,

If the new schema has the same rates(nomenclature) it would work.

If not then there could be 2 scenarios:

1. You create a new time slice in rate determination with the new rates. But when you try to save this, it would give an error as the old rates are not present in the schema. There is a function module to check this in the PAI of the screen.

2. You delete the old rate determination and put in new rates , then any billing doc created with the old rates would become inconsistent. If there are no billing docs then this might would work.

Cheers,

Rakesh..
