Hi Folks,
The question might be more technical than functional -
We are implementing AMI with one of our IS-U clients.
We are on SAP EHP6, as we are implementing AMI on top of ISU, I see that SAP delivers PI content for AMI and there are bunch of Enterprise services.
My question is:
Why do we need PI if we can directly call the service from ECC box? The only thing is that I would like to another hop while the message goes out.
Also, I don't see all the services in ECC that I see in the PI delivered content.
Please shed some light on this? Any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks,
-Naveen.

Hi naveen,
the PI is used for connecting the SAP with third party software, its like a middleware.the AMI infrastructure will be written in other platform like .net.so data should flow between them hence the integration of PI is required.
hope it helps.

Hi Naveen,
Most of the MDUS system has a reliable PI system in place and it can easily replace the need of SAP PI. All you would need is an interface program which would map the xml between MDUS and ECC.
you can look into the below links for some 'light'
http://www.cx4u.com/solutions/smartgateway/
On the number of web services that depends on the EHP in ECC. I see some additional ones in EHP7 than in EHP6.
Hope this helps.

Rakesh..
