ARLINGTON, Texas — SAP today announced the release of the SAP Grid Infrastructure Analytics rapid-deployment solution, which analyzes overload data to help utility grid operators improve operational efficiency and maximize the lifetime of transformers. The announcement was made at the Utility Analytics Week conference, being held in Arlington, Texas, from September 18-20, 2012.

Transformers undergo a continuous loss of life during operations and any overload irreversibly shortens their lifetime. Renewable and distributed generation puts less-predictable load into the transmission and distribution grid, so grid operators need detailed insight into the health of its infrastructure. Based on the SAP HANA platform, the SAP Grid Infrastructure Analytics rapid-deployment solution enables operators to quickly deploy a scalable technology foundation. This offers insight into transformer health, transformer overload and sensor monitoring in order to provide more streamlined maintenance plans and extend the life of transformers. Field maintenance workers can analyze sensor health on secure mobile devices.

SAP Rapid Deployment solutions combine pre-configured content, best practices and pre-defined services to quickly deploy a wide gamut of enterprise technology with rapid cost-savings. Enterprises can achieve full visibility over their deployments thanks to a defined scope with predictable costs. The average timeframe for a typical deployment of this solution is less than 60 days, helping customers lower the cost of implementation, speed time to value and extend the solution when needed. Rapid-deployment solutions are available to utility customers across the full SAP solution portfolio, including all environments – on premise, cloud and mobile. With them, customers can quickly and incrementally adopt new business functionality and innovative solutions for in-memory computing, analytics, mobile and more.
