On average, it takes over 66 days to adopt a new habit, and sticking to a new routine can be challenging for many of us.
As humans, we crave an easy and convenient lifestyle. If we want to encourage more people to switch from traditional cars to e-mobility, we need to make EV charging just as convenient as refuelling a car, or even better, integrate it into places where people already spend their time.
One of the biggest challenges in building charging points is finding the space to do so. That's why we're seeing more and more utility companies partnering with shopping center operators and supermarket chains in Germany. However, these partnerships often result in disconnected experiences, only incidentally benefiting everyone involved: the customer, the grocery shop owner, and the utility.
To address this issue, we've teamed up with our colleagues from the SAP Experience Center to create the Walldorf-based SAP Energy Park. Here, we've developed a complete story to illustrate how an EV charge point can be seamlessly integrated into a full end-to-end customer experience at our S.MART Energy Store.

So, come and explore our very own charge point in front of the SAP Experience Center, and see firsthand how a charging session can enhance the benefits of a loyalty program within a retail collaboration.
The Energy Retail case showcases how charging sessions from our own charge point can create various types of customer interactions, depending on the perspective and the owner of the charge point. We've designed this to integrate with SAP E-Mobility, SAP Cloud for Energy, and CX solutions like SAP Emarsys and SAP Customer Data Platform, allowing us to send push notifications based on current or historical charging sessions.
We're looking at different ways to change consumer perceptions of EV charging and create a meaningful customer experience. For example, we're adding charging sessions to loyalty programs to earn loyalty points and, ultimately, push companies toward a more sustainable energy transition.
We're also showcasing how public charging could be paid for within existing energy contract conditions and how loyalty programs could attract customers on days with high solar power production, perhaps by offering them a voucher to shop during a specific time slot when sustainable energy is readily available.
We are looking forward to welcome you onsite and introduce you to the SAP Energy Park to demonstrate the potential for EV charging to be seamlessly integrated into the customer experience, creating a win-win situation for all involved.
