Impressive and intense”:  this is a common feedback shared by attendees at the Executive Value Network for Water and Waste Water Services companies sessions which took place last May 15 - 16th hosted by the Water and Drainage Services Company of Monterrey - SADM. Inspirational contributions and fluent discussions about the role of information technologies in the areas of operations management and interaction with customers/citizens, all addressed in depth,  in the context of the great needs and challenges that water companies face because of climate change, as perfectly described and contextualized in the master conferences of Architect Juan Ignacio Barragán - Director General Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey and Dr. Aldo Iván Ramírez Orozco, Director of the Water Center, Tecnológico de Monterrey

Focusing into the sessions tracks,  the use of the new generation of technology platforms for water management was discussed first, where SADM (Mexico), FARYS (Belgium) and Empresas Pública of Medellín – EPM (Colombia) presented illustrative use cases of alternative approaches and treatment of information to facilitate different perspectives of debate.  After the lunch break, discussions shifted into the exchange of experiences about how information technologies improve relations with citizens and how their benefits can be quantified. To this end a very inspiring collaboration of EPM and a great review of use cases by our Technology Partner Smart Energy and Water – SEW.

As complementary but of special relevance,  our partner Softtek, contributed with a much discussed inspirational keynote about the future of Artificial Intelligence technologies in the water and sanitation sector as well as facilitated afterwards an excellent networking dinner among the attendees. Additionally at the end of the second day we visited one of the impressive pumping centers of the Cuchillo II aqueduct to have a complete view of the SADM strategy to guarantee supply in Monterrey.

The Water Executive Value Network sessions, deliberately designed in a frugal format, seeks to bring companies in the sector closer to share experiences and explore solutions to the challenges they face in their day-to-day management.  We hope that this first edition in Mexico has been of interest and will convey participant companies to organize a new session for next year, with the close collaboration of the SAP for Utilities industry responsible for Latinamerica, Ivan Barreto, and the great support of SAP Mexico in the person of Fausto Peñuñuri:  a huge and big Congratulations!
