Purpose of Maintaining Reference Site in Pricing configuration

Dear Friends,

In Retail pricing configuration, we maintain the reference site against the Sales org/ Dist Channe/Price List / Pricing type.

Can any one help what is the purpose of maintaining the reference site there.

What all are the benefits we get by that setup.

Hello,

When you calculate the sales price on distribution chain or price list level, certain pricing relevant parameters are not available on this organization level.

Following parameters plays an important role in purchase price determination for further calculation:

• Source of supply
• Purchasing organization which is to be used for supply source determination

During sales price calculation, SAP determines these details from the reference site if maintained for pricing type.

So if I don't maintain the reference site, then I will not be able to determine the Purchase price etc if I run VKP5 only for SalesOrg / Dist channel.

Is that Correct please?

Is there any other benefits for this. How helpful this reference site is for two step pricing.

Hello,

Yes. Your understanding is right.

For two-step also it will serve the same purpose.

We cannot say, it will never get purchase relevant information if we don't maintain the reference site. This also depends on other confirguarions like purchase orginizations in your system, supply source maintained in basic data etc.

The reference site will be referred only if nothing can be determined from your organization structure.
