Difference between Budget and Posting Adresses in Funds management

I need to know the detail difference between Budget and Posting Adresses. kindly explain with examples .

Hi Maz,

In BCS, you create a plan structure each year like 2008, 2009, 2010 and you create budget adresses in the 2008 plan structure and posting adresses in 2008 plan structure

Budget adresses are saved in the ledger 9F and posting adresses are saved in the ledger 9A and AVC in ledger 9H

When you create budget and posting adresses in plan structure this means that only thoses combinations Funds, Funds center, commitment item will have budget in FMBB and will be used in earmarked funds and real postings like 9A

Simply if budget adress is not created you acn not enter a budget in 9F table FMBDT

If posting adress is not created you can not for example create a funds commitment with FMZ1. any way to update the table FMIOI or impossible to create an invoice with FB60 referencing the funds commit in order to update the table FMIFIIT

AT closing you copy the different budget adresses and the posting adresses in the next plan structure for example 2009. There is a tcode for that.

But I have Checked this that we can post Real Comitment without Running Posting Address, I have tested on my system.. I agree with you that we cant run the Fmbb without creating budgeting address tags...

Hi MAZ,

Salvator is correct is that the check for posting address has to be turned on. Not all entities opt to have the check for posting address turned on. Although we were discouraged in doing so, we chose that option and ever year, we have to go through the process of copying the budget addresses to the posting addresses. Also, during the year, when there are new changes in the budget structure, new posting addresses have to be created each time otherwise users will get a hard error when attempting to post against the account assignments. It can be time consuming sometimes but in the long run it really helps to prevent incorrect postings in the system.

But still i am very confused the 'clear' difference between Budet address and posting addresses. For Tran. Fmbb, we must need the Budget Address but y we need Posting address (where they restric ) plz mention the transaction...

Maz,

You have to check adresses in customizing and in FMBOSTAT link the version 0 to status of budget execution

In our system it is impossible to post on F/CF/CI if posting adress has not been created in ledger 9A

Please check your customising

You need posting adresses for other transactions than FMBB meaning

Earmarket funds

Invoices, etc.....

These postings affect the ledger 9A of posting adresses.
