Deriving Cost Center from WBS element!

Dear Brothers!

we are entering the Cost center in WBS Element, & Cost center is assigned to Fund Center (By Derivation)

we want the following in FI Posting ( FB50/60....etc)

as we Enter WBS Elemenet in the line item, system must derive the cost center from the mastre record( WBS).

in this regard, I defined the ( derivation) Funactional Module " FMDT_READ_MD_WBS_ELEMENT Read WBS Element Master Data" . But in the test run, its working fine.

but in the line item of FI, system is not deriving the cost center from WBS element.

Plz Help

Thanks

MSiddique,

Your setup sounds similiar to ours. Using the WBS element will derive the CO object cost center based on the function module we defined (I used the trace function in FM Derive to see this which is very helpful). But in the FB50 entry we have to directly key the Cost Center field there. In FB50 the cost center field (just like fund) is a field that we key directly.

Dear MSiddique,

I would recommend to switch on the trace functionality in the test tool. Like that you can see during your FI Posting, which derivation steps are executed and what is the result of the single steps.

This should help you to find out, why the derivation works in the way you described.

I hope that helps.

Hi again,

cost center and WBS element are two cost collectors

the best way to do is to derive FM data like a fund and a funds center from a WBS or from a cost center or from an order

And this via user exit

And in FMDERIVE please use function modules
