Today we held the ASUG Virginia Chapter meeting at Fairfax Water.  For the first time the registration was at capacity.

Special thanks to our sponsors:

SAP S/4 HANA for Public Services Roadmap

This session ended up being given by SAP Support, as the original presenter had to bring home a sick child from school.  There was a lot of interest in this session so I thought I would recap here.

From a legal view, SAP has to show the legal disclaimer for all presentations, as they are still in the development phase and things are always subject to change

SAP S/4HANA simplifie data models, processes and also the user interface.

There was discussion about simplifying landscapes, consolidating on-premise and cloud and pre-defined integration scenarios

S/4HANA collapses the 26 document business suite tables previously required with the classic suite to only 1 data table for Materials Management

On the right side above, there was some discussion about Fiori; only a few people in the room have implemented/used it.  It is to improve productivity with fewer clicks and training

Here's the YouTube covering the S/4HANA Receivables Management new user experience:

Above shows the Business Suite tables that many of us know

The the slide builds to this one to show fewer tables with S/4HANA

This is the first time I've seen a slide like this for Public Sector, including Cloud solutions and Leonardo.

In case you can't read the fine print at the bottom of the slide see below:
Dark Blue: Digital core: Core solution capabilities delivered as part of SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management.
Light Blue: Digital Core: Solution capabilities that are also part of SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management, but added/purchased as needed.
White: Extensions: Cloud-based (LoB) solution extensions that are fully integrated with SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management, but added/purchased as needed.
Gray: Leonardo: Solution capabilities that are powered by a Leonardo technology and included in the Leonardo suite and how to add/purchase is not shown on this diagram.

Above see the blue boxes highlighting plans for Public Sector.  Interesting to see new virtual data models for Funds Management and Grants Management planned for 2018.

For 2019, plans include Funds Management capabilities for S/4HANA Cloud

2020 - it will be interesting to see US Federal Financials in the Universal Journal, having worked on the SAP US Federal Financials solution in the past.

Above are the key points to "take home".  I want to thank Ed Crockett, SAP Support, for stepping in at the last minute to cover this important topic.

Special thanks to Craig Lees, Loudoun Water, for his presentation "Loudoun Water Mobilizes SAP’s Geo.e for Improved Field Operations".  Everyone afterwards said how great his presentation was.  Below are his very impressive demos:

Here is Craig presenting.  He focused on empowering field workers and change management.

Here's our table "swag":
