In a conversation with some friends about the integration between TD and TM, some questions arose regarding the E2E process, so I will briefly describe what an Outbound process from TD to TM looks like.
Below is a flow with the steps. As we can see, all the steps are already known, however, they are organized a little differently than normal.
Two moments are important to highlight:
1 Quantity Assignment
In this step, we can follow the manual path, executing transaction O4L1 - TD-F Doc Item Quantity-Create/Change, or in a massive way, through transaction OINSC_TDQTYA - Bulk Shpmt - Mass DocItem Qty Assign. This step is the main step to start the integration between TD and TM.
2 Create Freight Unit and Freight Order
These two steps are created automatically, without the need for user intervention. It is triggered after the completion of the “Quantity Assignment” step. In a standard TM scenario, Freight Order Creation is necessary for transportation planning; in this case, the planning has already been executed by O4F1- Create Shipment.
If you notice, we do not have the VI01 – Create Shipment Costs step, this step is no longer necessary in this new design, now this is the responsibility of TM, calculating the freight cost, creating the PO and SES.
I believe that with this additional information it is possible to have a complete view of the topic.
