More than 450 attendees from over 20 countries attended the 4th International SAP Metals and Mining Summit in Moscow, Russia on September 11th and 12th to discuss a wide variety of truly thought leading digital innovations and business processes that are changing the metals and mining industries. In addition, more than 7500 people join the event on line, making it an impressive and unprecedented experience.
On the first day, participants enjoyed a great atmosphere at the SAP Experience Center and exchanged their latest accomplishments, met industry peers, took part in lively discussions and shared plans for the future.
Speakers presented their accomplishments at 20 breakout sessions over the two days.
Along with Metalloinvest, Severstal, thyssenkrupp, Nornickel, TrenItalia, Polyus, Jindal Saw, ETEM Gestamp, ERG and OMK spoke about their latest experiences in optimizing critical business processes and embracing new digital technologies. More than a dozen SAP partners and multiple startup companies supported the Summit with over 20 booths demonstrating various digital solutions.
Eckhardt Siess, Vice President for Mill Products and Mining, and Georg Gradl,Global Vice President at SAP for Mining & Metals, gave interviews to the Russian press.
On the second day Metalloinvest, a major integrated metals and mining company, invited the most adventurous industry peers to meet at their main production site, located over 600 km from Moscow near ancient Russian town of Stary Oskol. There, Metalloinvest showed guests their production facilities and presented results of the first phase of a comprehensive digital transformation.
