Almost 220 participants, representing more than 40 international companies in the metals and mining industry, shared their experiences and presented their achievements in the field of IT during the first International Mining and Metallurgical Summit, organized by SAP and Severstal in Moscow. "One of the major challenges in the industry today is the need to steadily improve efficiency and the comprehensive coverage of the entire value chain," said Eckhardt Siess, Global Vice President of SAP's Industry Business Unit Mill Products & Mining. SAP hybris, a CRM solution for customer interaction, is a valuable asset for IT departments in the sector as it allows them to ensure that interaction with customers is optimized by providing effective tools such as an electronic document management system, a web portal as well as an e-commerce system.
