Orissa Diary reported that the SAP Plant Maintenance Module was rolled out at TATA Steel Processing and Distribution as an extension of the main SAP ERP for plant
and equipment maintenance process. Previously there was no integrated ERP or online system for the plant and equipment maintenance - the need was based on a
study by Renoir Consultants. Also TBEM feedback suggested the replacement of the previous local excel-based isolated data management. A cross-functional
team of SAP officials and maintenance engineers across units worked for three months, along with TATA Technologies. SAP-PM will help knowledge sharing and
viewing of past breakdown data across any unit and plant, and will strengthen the internal knowledge base of the plant maintenance team.
