SAP ISH - HL7 MESSAGE - HL7 EXTERNAL PARTNER

Hi everybody

Our requirement is to communicate for SAP ISH ERP 6.0 to external system using HL7 standards .. .

According SAP help documentation , seem every change of master data an event can be triggered.This event is stored inside database and a link can be established inside IMG configuration to allow HL7 message to be send to an external partner using HCM communication framework.

Following question remind opened according SAP help documentation :

1/ how to setup link between SAP ISH <=> External partner

2/ how external partner are registred inside SAP ( program id, ...) : SAP use Idocs ? , seem yes but need clarification

3/ How communication to external partner using HL7 can be tested : do we have a method to verify HL7 message are sent from SAP to external partner

Any feed-back , lesson learn will help me a lot... thanks for your time and answer

I know SAP PI with Adapter can resolve this ...SAP HL7 options e.g. from iWAY, SAP Conversion Agent powered by Informatica but i would like to know more about end to end test using SAP ISH HCM <=> HL7 Message <=> HL7 External system/partner

Hi,

SAP IS-HCM does support some HL7 messages at the version 2.1 level, however these HL7 messages are not validated from SAP ISH. Usually there is a middleware (e.g. PI) or a HL7 inteface in between ISH and External patners for the HL7 communication. Either the middlweare or the HL7 interface is responsible for the message validation.

I hope this above could answer your questons 1 and 3, if you do mean "link" is the HL7 communication and "verify" is the validation of HL7 messages in your questions.

I am sorry I did not get your question 2, would that be a ISH specific question?

Thanks you for this answer ... do you have any information about sample interface like may be HAPI ( opensource project ) which can be interfaced with SAP ?

In this documentation seem HCM ISH framework need to update TXCOM table, but according SAP Documentation only partners with CPIC / RFC capabilities can be connected , any information about JAVA with CPIC / RFC possibilities ?

Do you have inside your experience a list of some product compatible ?

Hi,

I´ve implemented HL7 between SAP and an external partner, and trust me, IMG documentation has everithing you need in the following path:

SAP Healthcare - Industry-Specific Components for Hospitals -> Communication -> Appendices / Communication Setup Procedures.

It looks more complicated than what it really is: it all comes to sending a file to an external partner server, by means of standard function modules.
