In this day and age, you’d think people are getting healthier. But according to the
World Health Organization, 39% of the world’s adults are overweight, the number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since the ‘80s, and cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death globally.
Diet and fitness play a big role in preventing and treating these health issues but so does systematic monitoring and analytics with modern technology. On the last episode of
#SAPTalks, I spoke with Rudolf Mezei, a healthcare management Economist and the CEO of
Medistance, a medical device and solution provider based in Hungary.
The Medistance healthcare platform enables people to securely transmit health and wellness data from in-home medical devices to a central database used by healthcare providers. Data from the in-home devices is transferred via a secure machine-to-machine communication network and is accessible anytime through a web service. This platform gives doctors, hospitals and even family members, instant insight into patient health status.
“It’s an intelligent healthcare management platform combined with IoT devices like medical sensors, blood pressure monitors, and glucose systems,” explains Mezei.
Medistance enables healthcare providers to create personalized treatment plans for patients and monitor them remotely. Automated alarms can be set up to alert patients and doctors if the patients’ health data indicates any attention or action is required. Doctors can quickly analyze the data and follow up with patients on the phone, both speeding up the care provided and reducing the number of office visits required.
“This is a cutting-edge technology-based solution powered by
SAP Business One,” said Mezei.
