Hi everybody.

I would like to know which are the pros and cons of having (and using) IPC in VMS business processes.

Thanks. Regards.

... what would be your alternative, if not using the IPC for VMS?

Let's say, IPC enables online configuration of vehicles, what also includes vehicles ordering via a web access like the SAP Dealer Portal.

BUT: if your business is not demanding a configuration of vehicles, because the vehicle configuration is fixed all the time, then you don't need a configurator....

So, pros of the IPC is that's integrated w/ ERP already, and integrated with VMS. An other, external configurator would require integration (dataload, access control, process integration, etc. not to be underestimated).

Cons of IPC is that available features may no cover business requirements, and IPC together w/ VMS cannot work on BOMs, e.g..

Gives this some directions?

Best, Ute
