Error material exchange while GOODS RECEIPT

I want to do material exchange while GR

but the system gives me error "Material document data and PO data do not match (Material)"

"Update of reference purchase order failed - see MPN error log"

according to sap help online, we are allowed to do this kind of process, is there any customizing that i need to do?

Did you check the error log as indicated by the system message? Does it provide any specific reason?
