DBM - PA Characteristic Derivation when Settling Orders to PA

Hi,

I am having a problem in deriving the material characteristic for PA when settling the Internal Orders used by DBM for the various scenarios. I have setup a comprehensive Source Structure at Material Group Level and the Value Fields are coming through fine, but cannot find a way to derive either the Material or Material Group PA characteristic.

I cannot find a link in any tables that I can use. I have the Internal Order Number and the DBM Order Number but not the item number to use.

Has anybody come across this situation. If so could they please share their knowlege.

Thanks

Don

Hi

please have a look at OSS Note https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/930634

As you can see the only method to derivate MaterialGroup into CO-PA is from the Account number

Qoute from OSS

How can you take into account differing information which arose simultaneously in the same order for the same characteristic (such as a material group)?

Distinguishing different information in the result within the same order depends on whether different value fields or different characteristics are used for that purpose. In any case, the use of different cost elements is absolutely necessary. When different value fields are used, the different cost elements are assigned to different value fields in Customizing. If the differentiation is to occur using a characteristic, then a source structure must be used and a different source assignment must be maintained for every characteristic attribute or generated using dynamic Customizing. Due to the requirement for the creation of different cost elements and if necessary the creation of several source assignments, the number of the characteristic attributes should by kept to a minimum, for example 3-8 different material groups are thus conceivable.

I hope this helps

Stephan

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for the response. I did review the note mentioned and used the approach recommended. It works well at a Mat Group level. My client originally wanted PA at Material level, but has since accepted that Mat Group level will be the best that they can get. Some of the other Characteristics that they required were a bit difficult to get but I did acheive most of their requirements using the Internal Order no and the tables available for DBM.
