Hi Venkata,
The Vehicle Management system (VMS) is part of SAP IS - Auto. Generally it is said that it is used by importers, however I would rather put it like this – It can be used for an importer or a distributor’s business functions. So if an OEM is also performing a distributor’s business, he can also use VMS and get benefited out of it.
The VMS facilitates to see a Vehicle like a Vehicle in the system.
Following are the few high level features -
This is in brief about VMS.

Hi
In short, VMS is used by retailors. But if anyone wants to used both, DBM and VMS , then it needs to be integrated...
Mass vehicles can be processed in VMS. Here they can sell vehicle to dealers and in DBM dealers sell vehicles to end customers.

Hi Venkata,
VMS captures the complete life cycle of a vehicle. It is more than a vehicle master as it contains both master data and transaction data of a unique vehicle. It provides detailed traceability of a vehicle from the time when it is manufactured on the assembly line to the time after it is sold till the expiry of the vehicle warranty. It can be integrated between the OEM and the distributor, between the distributor and the dealer, etc.
