How can the connected car help in solving current and future challenges of mobility?
The World Health Organization estimates that the urban population worldwide will reach 5.2 billion by 2050. Our cities are not only the home to billions of people; they are also the home to millions of cars. Without additional advances in information technology, the quality of urban life will deteriorate rapidly. Individual connectivity in and outside of the car makes it possible to find new ways to alleviate congestion, pollution, and stress. However, few solutions will address
these impacts across the globe – technology needs to be adapted to culture, lifestyle and society.
My colleagues are currently conducting the Global Connected Car Contest 2012 together with SAP and Audi to address these issues.
The best ideas win a one-week-trip to Silicon Valley to work directly on further developing their ideas with engineers, IT experts, and managers from Audi and SAP!
