More about Sören in SAP Community

Occupation: SAP Development Architect
Sören, tell us about yourself.
Who are you, what do you like to do, what is important to you?
I started my career in 2011 as an ABAP Development Consultant. After initial project experience, I also became a trainer for SAP development with the aim of always staying at the cutting edge of technology. I like to make things happen and realize cool solutions with my fingers on the keyboard and less playing PowerPoint bingo.
In my spare time I like travelling and exploring new cities and countries.
What is your area of expertise?
What does a usual day at work look like for you?
I am focused on THE ONLY REAL Programming Language: ABAP 😊
I have been involved with Gateway and OData for almost 8 years and started using the RESTful ABAP programming model early on, which is what I focus on - as well as modern ABAP development. In addition to delivering training, I spend most of my time working on S/4HANA projects and still very often come into contact with "old style ABAP" when troubleshooting, but I try to make the solutions I develop much more understandable.
What inspired you to become an SAP Champion in SAP Community?
I really enjoy interacting with people, teaching them and learning from them - where better to do that than in a strong community?
How do you learn in SAP Community?
What is your daily/weekly routine in SAP Community?
Unlike many others, I'm not a blogger - I prefer the interactive way of communicating. I like organizing meetings and expert panels, meeting people at an SAP Inside Track or an SAP Stammtisch. Or I organize webinars about the coolest new features and learnings or bring people together, as I do when I organize ABAPConf or the upcoming FioriConf.
What is your suggestion to get the most out of SAP Community?
Just listening and reading is boring. To have fun, you have to be communicative and also get in touch with people and share experiences - the good and the bad. That's what a community is all about.
Sören's question to you:
Why are some people in a community, when the got nothing to say? Everybody has stories to share!
