Originally planned over 3 years ago, but cancelled due to COVID, we had our first ASUG Mid-Atlantic chapter meeting in Northern Virginia since the pandemic started.
Last Friday, we conducted our ASUG chapter meeting at Fairfax Water using 2 conference rooms - one for the regular sessions of the meeting and the other for SAP CodeJam. At the end of the day, I looked at my step count, and it was over 12K, for just walking between the rooms and the sponsor tables.

First, we couldn't hold these meetings without our sponsors, as shown above. They make these meetings possible. A big thanks to Savantis, Onapsis, Precisely, IBM, Titan, and Rizing.
What has changed in over 3 years? Since 3 years ago, our ASUG Chapter Manager, Gwendolyn Glasner, finds the sponsors, helps us source the content, puts together the agenda, orders the catering, and helps in last minute situations. One of our speakers was ill, and his replacement couldn't make it at the scheduled time. Fortunately Gwendolyn was able to make a last minute change to the agenda the night before.
Also, ASUG (through SAP) offers abstracts of content from SAP, and we chose 2 SAP sessions in January. Vikas Lodha, SAP, helped finding the SAP Speaker.

Rich Heilman, SAP CodeJam
Also 3 years since we first planned, SAP's
rich.heilman and
thomas.jung came to our meeting to conduct SAP CodeJam, ABAP in the Cloud. They explained the benefits of ABAP in the Cloud - SAP performs the updates/upgrades for you, while your back end can be a few versions behind.

Bharvi of IBM said it best "it's good to have face-to-face meetings again". IBM presented their RISE offering, with "one throat to choke". IBM has over 4500 customers.

Rory from Rizing explaining their offerings.

Kyle from Onapsis explains the state of security in 2023

Shantanu Sharma, SAP, presented sessions on SAP Integration Suite and Process Automation

What is next for the ASUG Mid-Atlantic Chapter?

We are planning a summer meeting in Maryland (likely Baltimore, Maryland).
In September we will return to Richmond, Virginia at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens
In October, Towson University in Maryland will host our meet.
A big thank you to ASUG's Gwendolyn Glasner, ASUG Volunteer Cailin Yates (who drove all the way from Williamsburg, Virginia), ASUG Volunteer Atul Patankar, all speakers, sponsors, and attendees for this meeting last Friday. Special thanks to everyone at Fairfax Water who helped support this event.
