writing blog in JIVE query

Hi All,

Earlier before JIVE  SCN moderators assigned  90-120 points for each blog depending upon its quality. Now after JIVE has come into play , does SCN maintain same point scheme? Could you please provide me any links where I can check the latest point awarding schema for blog posts in jive.

Earlier there was a separate notification to be sent to moderators informing about a new article in wiki , I am not sure that any such feature is present in jive for publishing blogs. I just published a blog and found only 10 points have been assigned to me . Thus has the point assignment schema undergone change ? Thus I find no difference in  assignment of points for answering a question in discussion forum and that of writing a blog post.

regards

10 is your initial credit, then it is up to the community to find and like or rate your blog.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you so much this explains the process.

Now I feel that  Instead of leaving it entirely to the community , if specific group of subject experts awarded the points that would have been more rewarding. Say the points may be rewarded for technical blogs / articles in this manner

1. 10 -------------from moderator once you submit

2. 10 to 40----------- subject matter experts

3. 10  to 50---------  the community

total -----100 points

Alternative ideas are always welcome. I am the wrong person to defend anything around the current points system, I could well live without it. We should wait for comments by SCN administrators.

I know that the approach since the migration to this new platform with social features is to leave appreciation to the community through "likes" and ratings.

Hi Thomas,

To me,  points are medium of expression of the extent that how much your answers to questions in forum(or your articles) helped resolving a problem. We can't compare points with marks awarded in an examination since marks in an examination help us achieve degrees without which we will be out of jobs.    I guess all of us who are memebers  in forum would like to know if our answers or articles helped someone resolve their problem, Then only the whole idea of having SCN becomes successful. Thank you so much for your kind response to my queries.

Yes, marking content as "helpful" or "correct", liking or rating it one to five stars is cool and probably serves the purposes you listed, but must there be points attached to this?

Having to fight the negative effects of people running for points points points has made me think critical.

Hi Thomas,

I can see you are SDN gold contributor. This gives an idea that you have been long associated with SAP and SCN. Since achieving gold status is not easy job thus all your comments, answers , articles deserves respect. Its quite difficult first of all to work with SAP for the reason its not like conventional programming, and I feel even experts search for answers to problems. The various status such as bronze, gold , silver etc cannot be decided unless SCN can quantify the amount of your contribution. For example we had English our subject in school. The subject had poetries, story, essay etc. We had to write examination on the subject of English literature and even we were rated for our answers. The whole point is that even marks had to be awarded in English literature (which is very difficult to quantify as its not science) to decide our final grade. I am not running for points but at the same time its important that  our contribution is recognized. It certainly helps in professional world.
