I am very pleased to report that I will shortly be a new first-time consumer of the new Enhancement Framework.
The customer wants a VT02n "pre-save" Packing tab customization so that if a user tries to pack a shipment that includes one or more "environmentally-relevant" items, a modal screen appears where a superuser has to authorize that the relevant hazmat procedures have been followed.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no "pre-save" BAdI or exit in VT02n designed specifically for this kind of thing.
There may be some "pre-save" exit of BAdI that can be subverted to do what the customer wants (although I don't think even this exists.)
But the point is - why subvert an exit or BAdI when one can find an implicit or explicit EP to do what needs to be done safely?
Instead of "subverting", we can now be safely "converting".
Converting generic SAP code to customer-specific code, without doing dangerous hacks that leave the customer open to trouble downstream.
I really respect SAP for delivering the new EF, even though (truth to tell), SAP is really doing what code-generator products did many many years ago ...

Doing very well, thanks David.
I did see your blog.....typical DH! haha You are dead on though. I have yet to see anything (partner, product, otherwise) that drops that "certified by SAP" moniker after they have grown "long in the tooth" so to speak. haha Good stuff as always from you.
Back to your thread now. 😃
Is this the Enhancement and Switch Framework we are talking about?
The one wherein we can create implicit/explicit enhancements?
If yes, then we have been using it since ages.....
And it helps, a lot.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Ravi -

Glad to know that you were able to find work in an EF-compatible environment "ages" ago, Ravi.
But just remember what some avatar once said, "ages" ago:
"The first shall be last and the last shall be first ...
(Just teasing ...)
Besr regards

Subversion is more fun. It sounds like moral corruption...
I really like the new framework. It's one of those nice tools where with minimum effort, you can safely effect a huge uplift of functionality.
