Why Point is getting deducted without any notification

Hi,

Please provide a reason, Today Morning my overall points was 1395. And now it's 1385.

I am not understanding, why points are getting deducted and if it then why not got any notification for the same.

Is it some system issue in scn?

Regards,

Praveer.

Hi Praveer,

There's a bit of irony here, as you created a 'blog post recently about finding help in your own SAP system, as people often ask questions that could be easily answered if they bothered to search and look at the content of their SAP system.  Unfortunately, I can see that post has now been rejected (I suspect because it doesn't add anything new, only cover off content that already exists in SAP Help and elsewhere.)  Also, after creating the 'blog post you still answer lots of the basic questions that are posted.

What is really ironic, is that you created that post with the motivation of educating people to try and help themselves (which is a great thing to do in principle) however you then continue to answer very basic questions that shouldn't be posted to SCN ABAP spaces in the first place.

If I look at your activity stream, I can see you posted to the following content:

  • "smartforms" - this looks like a pretty basic question about simple Smartforms logic that will probably be rejected from SCN
  • "reports(classical, interactive, alv)" - again, this is a very basic question that has already been rejected from SCN.  I can see that you originally got 10 points for answering this, however whoever moderated has rightly removed any assigned points from the thread before removing it
  • "appending one field to another" - yet again, a very simple and basic question that shouldn't have been posted to SCN in the first place

Where the points have been removed in point 2 above, I'd expect to see this in your reputation stream but I can't - I'm not sure if this is due to authorisations or if there is an issue with the system - maybe can help out with this?  Ultimately though, if a post is rejected most moderators will remove any points assigned on that thread before doing so.

Without doing more research, I can see a bit of a trend of you posting answers to lots of simple questions.  I can only suggest you adjust your engagement with SCN to help the rest of the community and when you see posts like this, instead of answering them use the "Alert Moderator" function.  That helps us, the moderators, and also the rest of the community to improve overall quality of content.  Further, it means that your points will likely only go up in future

Cheers,

G.

You can see the events that triggered the reduction on your expertise page:

http://scn.sap.com/reputation.jspa?username=praveerkumar.sen&viewID=places

Flip the ABAP Development tile by clicking the icon in the bottom right corner.

Hi Caroleigh,

Thanks for the clarification - I knew you could see this somewhere, just couldn't remember where!

Cheers,

If I click on the icon I can see the reason why someone lost points, but it can not click on a link to reach the post to see the context. Would it not be an improvement?

This might be called improvement from your side but would make all the moderation effort worthless. If we moderator reject  a post then we do not expect that the public can still access it.

Ok, that makes sense. I am new and try to understand the rules and mechanics.
