When emailing a thread, why can't I add a message?

I frequently forward threads out of a forum, but find it annoying that I can't put a short note to the person to which I send it.

Is there something I am missing or is this a feature that needs to be added?

SCN administrators are watching this forum, so they might comment here. The list of development requests is quite long though, I assume.

You could also post your suggestion in the moderator forum, and/or in the "idea place".
