When do we use Remote connection(RFC) to SAP

Hi All,

We have a requirement for synchronous RFC to be established with SAP from a windows think client environment. We tried to achieve this using SAP XI. But unfortunately the Admin is recommending to make use of RFC rather than XI. So we are in a dialemma to decide on whether to go with RFC or with XI.

We want to fetch MAterial Master information from Windows client connecting to SAP 3.1I.

I request if any one can help on to know, when do we use Remote connection to SAP and if possible when to use XI/PI.

Hi there,

From my expirience i can say this:

1)Pi is used for transfering large amount of data from one system to another.

2)Rfc/Webservices is used for front end applications for getting or setting data for users.
