Hello Folks,
I am Certified 2002 Basis Administrator and I finished BW course on my own. My eye is on Security. I was thinking of doing BW or Security certication. I am wondering which direction I should take next to pursue my career step. I am planning to take certification in any of the above area. Any ideas, suggestions is highly appreciated.
Thanks

I agree with Arun's suggestion that it would be advisable to carry on within the same(BASIS) stream as to switching (BW) unless so are really fed up with that !!
I feel taking a step forward on the same path would make you reach the destination faster as to change of track and returning to starting point.

Anurag

As you know the industry for SAP Basis guys gets less pay than SQL DBA or Network Administrator gets. I feel sometimes better to be Oracle DBA or Unix/Windows specialist than SAP Basis guy. Bearing the burden of the application and there dependability (DB, OS, Networking & Backup Recovery) I feel lets get out of this crap.
BW is well paid, so is Security with one thing to think all time. Focus of your attention is only at one subject. Basis sucks all the time having such an important role still get less paid than any other guy on project.
BW and Security reaching sky with SAP. I need your input on this. Thanks for the response.
If its just a thing of money and you dont have a problem starting over, then BW is the best. its the highest paid job in SAP
look here

Basis is way below BW.
Hope this helps
Mike,
I would put the same question back to you...
do you want to be in BASIS or want to come out of BASIS ?
if it is BASIS and more - you can look at security otherwise you can look at BW but then if you get into BW - you would be into BW BASIS ( which would mean that there would not be much value attached to the BW certification ) or BW consultant ( which would mean that there would not be much value attached to the BSISI certification you already have)
I would suggest security but then it is up to you.
Arun
