Hi,
I am new to SAP FICO functional area. I don't know any thing about Finace. I am from Engineering background. Can any one please help me to understand the structure of FI. How can I learn all these new words.
And also please suggest me some books which can help me to understand the Organisation structure of any organisation.
Please help me
Thank You,
With Regards,
Vimal

If you dont know anything about Finance then my best suggestion would be to stay away from FICO. You will spoil your career.

vimal,
If you are much interested in functional gain some functional knowledge by doing any relevant degree, FICO books can't explain you about Organization structure, they discuss with how to face a situation?, otherwise ask your management to change your department to technical side and once contact your HR persons, i think they misplaced your study details
regards
Mahesh
Looks like a campus placement to me....But even in that case, this looks strange.....Instead they could hire a commerce graduate and train them on SAP FI. I think these campus placements happen target based, the HR is given a target and they need to reach it, doesnt matter whom they take for which technology or domain.
Vishwa.
Let me be clear: These forums are not the place to learn an entire SAP module and the relevant business processes from the ground up. I understand your miserable situation, but we cannot help you, sorry. Talk to your manager. Even better, point your manager to this thread here, so he can explain how the heck they can think up putting total freshers into complex domains without any background or training.

I once thought about specialising in FICO. The trouble is that you end up competing with people with accounting qualifications. It's a hugely complex area, especially the "CO" bit. Strangely though, I now do most of my work in the FI/CO BW area.
If you really want to learn about finance etc., I'd suggest enrolling yourself on some kind of accountancy course.
Because they asked me before only that are you interested. By knowing the deman(d) I said yes.
Something similar happened to me about 10 years ago and we now have 3 children.
I have not let them loose on the internet yet because they are still in training, nappy changing which is not public domain stuff, etc.
Please now you pleople just help me...
Yep, I said much the same to my mother-in-law once but she reverted back that I got myself into this mess so will have to solve the same on my own.
I would not post this sort of stuff in the internet if I were you.
Cheers,
Julius

I thought that was a horribly wrong misspelling of domain!

And hence started a lot of confusion. All the more reason why one must do a spell-check before posting.

It was about business and career. I could not take risk (w)right?. Hence I posted this on this forum.
Dear, You have already taken risk by saying 'yes'..You are too late.
May be before he said yes, he might have thought how to tackle the issue after taking up FICO, then immediately he might have thought of SDN, then he would have said yes
i can learn
so please help me learn...
May be I would suggest a easy way to learn, Buy some finance books and use it instead of pillows at night, may be the content of the book might seep into your mind. I have not tried it though.
P.S. you should have posted this here [Funny threads?|;

How much time do you have to learn the finance/controlling?
How can I learn all these new words.
Possibly you are not in a hurry and have a huge capacity to learn all the words and how they fit together in a short space of time, like say 1 or 2 years?
@ Mahesh: how much time do you have left?
Cheers,
Julius

Hi,
Just now I have started my journy(i.e., career) in this corporate world. I don't how much time it will take me to learn and also I don't know how much time left for learning...I think their is lots of time left. May be 1 or 2 years.
But I don't know how and from where I should start learning?
Thank You,
vimal.

Ahh, that is different to step-by-step to do the module in one thread...
In that case I would follow Matt's advise above and also spend some of your time in the SDN ERP forums, wikis and blogs to learn the SAPidation of the finance/controlling.
I think if you put effort into it and ideally have a senior FICO functional to work under / with then you can become "fit" in that time.
Keep us posted and good luck!

Still you got the project? Can you give me the name of that company? I want to apply. I feel I wasted too many years in Accounting/Finance. I think fighting with Auditors till 2 o clock in morning was waste of time. To learn how to prepare SCF I beg my x boss to teach me, we set so many days and finally itu2019s gone into my head. But I feel I wasted time.. I think all I need MS word and my imagination!

Interesting I was not aware of that. I will keep checking them. But I am still interested in that Body shop who placed vimal on FICO project. If he survived ( I assume) then I should be fine without knowing FICO. All I have to see is just SAP front end screen. Rest of the thing i will figure out.
kvasavada,
If you want proof, check this link http://www.mahindrasatyam.com/careers/hot_skills.asp , I think the openings are expired, but check with them. Also, keep looking other companies portal.

Thank you very much! But looks like its India base. I am settled in US, and I am an US citizen. My whole domain experience 11+ years is based in US. I am not sure Mahindra has any office in US where they can train people on SAP.
Still I will try to contact them.
