Below an example of an answer created with the new editor:
If you start off with normal text,
then continue with the code format
then it lets you jump to an empty line below the code section
Other formatting is ignored when the code format is used. This is not a good thing because quite often I need to distinguish the offending or added line or piece of code.
Although I can put some text in bold, and some other text in italic, I cannot underline, strike-through or color text.
Neither can I outline or indent.
Being able to insert an empty table was also a really nice feature of Jive, that I am missing here. It was perfect to show examples of expected report / query outcomes.
The conclusion below actually demonstrates that it is possible to combine other formatting with the code format. In this case I bolded the text first and then selected it and pressed the code button. It now also allows me to apply other formatting afterward. In the code formatted paragraphs above, I can still not apply other formatting.
In short the text editor is a big jump back from the current jive editor, unless we can expect it to be extended before go-live.
Request clarification before answering.
The blogs section actually has an almost perfect editor.
Why would you want to use a different editor in Questions ? If for some strange reason this is necessary, I would still expect it to be the other way around.
