I am looking for sources / definitions concerning two terminologies: "procurement release" and "distribution component". If you know any links / literature it would be helpful to write a glossar.

Suggestion for Procurement Release:

An intermediate step after the creation of a purchasing document, which is required before any follow on actions can be performed with regard to this document. The release is performed either automatically or by one ore more users to confirm, that the document is correct.

For an official definition, I assume that it will be easier to find sources on official SAP pages if you restrict your search to one object (e.g. "Release of Purchase Order")
