After a few days in the new SCN platform (or whatever the name the platform right now has) I am confused. Like most members, I'm having a hard time understanding what's going on around here, and cannot easily find the content which I should be following. I have a suggestion to improve the platform. I hope I do not look like a newbie after this suggestion, as this might have already been delivered, yet I might not have been able to find if it really is.
Here it is: Tags should be able to be assigned hierarchically by moderators; this way users can drill down to an appropriate tag to see the content which has been tagged with it. I do believe that a tag should be able to be assigned to more than one higher tier tag.
Let me try to paraphrase this by an example. Let's take Shipment Costing functionality, which is handled in SAP ECC Logistics Execution component. This is an area which is usually customized by SD consultants, and is tightly integrated in Materials Management. Let's say a blog/question is tagged with #shipment cost tag. A moderator (or a content manager) decides that this tag is a lower level tag of both SD and MM and assigns this tag to both SD and MM. This way, all users who are following SD and MM tags automatically see updates about #shipment cost tags as well.
A graphical example is as follows (I know I won't win Nobel Prize for Design Thinking if it is ever awarded). The bold tags here are assigned to more than one higher level tag. Mind you, this is just a sketch to open your minds.
Additionally, another set of users (aside moderators) can be given authorization to arrange the hierarchical level of tags as well.
Request clarification before answering.
