Hello All,
Please have a look at the thread
The situation here is this forum poster who is a novice in PI and he is looking for speedy solution. The solution which they could have get if they have searched SDN or forums. But instead he opted to post it in forum.
Now the problem due to this posting is that it create a duplicate post in the forum which is not a great idea. As you can see there are some mixed reaction from community members.
What I am suggesting here is that can't we have some functionality that a user before posting a thread is forced to do a search in SDN forums and if no hits are found for his query then he may be allowed to post the thread.
What is you opinion on this.. Or if there is some other suggestions then please post it here.
Regards

Hello Suraj,
This is quite frequent even in the ABAP General Forum. When someone posts a basic or frequently asked question without searching, we as regular SCN'ers hit the abuse button and remind them to search before posting. When the OP does not care for the warnings he receive and keeps posting basic questions, the moderators will take over from there and take appropriate action. This seems to be the optimal solution for this and which is taking place at present. I dont think your suggestion is quite feasible as even the forum search can lead to incorrect threads at times.

It is essentially impossible for the moderators to read every post that's posted - we rely on everyone who spots something amiss, to hit the abuse button, and notify the moderators. Don't worry if you "get it wrong" - we investigage each post, and with some we agree that there is an issue, and take action - other times, we consider it to be ok. We may send a message to the poster asking them to improve the quality of their posts. The vast majority of people seem to respond well to the moderation. There's only a handful of people who just don't pay attention for whatever reason. Eventually, they find that their accounts are suspended.

Hello Suraj and all Moderators/Administrators,
Interesting topic!
My opinion would be to classify issues as parent and child and attach more than one post which are for the same or related issue.
Back in my previous previous role in New Zealand, we used to use a project management support desk-compatible application which gave us the ability to attach a new issue/post if it was related to past issue(resolved). I wonder if we could aim to achieve the same here. Things will be more transparent and more logical and less cumbersome for someone looking for issue using wild cards.
