The nic There's no "F" in FICO is imaginative and very funny.
But it leads me to wonder how many SDNers actually get the joke?
That is: how many have heard the original joke about there being "no F in lettuce"?
As usual (since this is CC), no points awarded for responses to this poll.

Request clarification before answering.
It's not really off-color....it's more how people speak all the time (haha)....they use "those words" like many use punctuation....it's a comma for most folks! (haha)
As for the joke....think about it a bit...vocalize it...slow it down.....
"There's no effen lettuce!" - which might make some folks mad if they wanted a burger with all the fixings.
or
"There's no f'in lettuce! There's no f'n corn! There's no f'n tomatos! There's no f'in anything!!!" - might be a farmers response at a bad crop.
It's very similar to the same "Sofa King" joke. 😃 You can Google that one. wink
Enjoy!

I don't know, CD ... the person who chose the nic "There's no 'F' in FICO" obviously thought the joke was pretty funny - otherwise, why choose the nic?
On a related note. have you ever heard that line of H.L. Mencken's about Presbyterians here in the US:
"A Presbyterian is a person who is really afraid that somewhere, someplace, someone might be having a little bit of fun ..."

No, I'm not kidding. Honest! There really is a joke with that puncline.
I'm sure there's someone here who can confirm this ...Rich? Chris (Hanshew or Solomon)? Gareth? Mike?

Well if you don't know it, I guess I WILL have to wait for Marilyn's or Craig's OK before I tell it.

It's odd that you brought up the new 2010 version in response to Blag's question about lettuce.
I have it on good authority that the 2010 version will have a "Restaurant and Hotel" module designed by professors who teach in the famous Restaurant and Hotel program at Cornell University here in the US (assisted, of course, by Cordon Bleu chefs from the Culinary Institute of America.)
In this module, there will be a recipe for "Honeymoon Salad":
"Lettuce alone without dressing!".
In the on-line help for this module it will explain that:
1) In English, "honeymoon" is the term for the little vacation that a couple takes right after they're married;
2) In English, "Lettuce" sounds just like "Let us":
"Let us alone without dressing".

BTW, all of the above has NOTHING to do with original joke ...

I have not, so I will not mind reading it here. I don't imagine I will be at TechEd, so it is no good to me if you promise to tell it during the keynote - unless it is caught on video and made available here on SDN!

Hi KK -
Well since you asked ... I'm going to have to get Marilyn's approval first, because it is a little off-color and there are rules-of-the-road.
Well maybe not ... the only off-color part of the joke has already been stated, and in fact, is also part of the "FICO" nic ... that's what makes the joke AND the nic so funny ...
BTW - how did you know I never listen to keynote speeches and just sit way in the back trading jokes with friends ...
Best regards
