Regarding the article for acquiring SAP, I think this guy is a troll.

All the people involved in this thread has more than tousand forum points. I would NOT call any of them trolls (or maybe I would if we would share a cave a time before).

Hi Otto,

By "this guy" I meant the author of the mentioned blog (Helmuth Gümbel) and not anyone of the SDN members that posted here. And if he is not a pure troll, at least in this blog entry he acts like one.

Hope this helps,

Rossen

Why should I get worried? If somebody would buy SAP, he would not delete all the customers installation on that day. So I ma not worried at all. I am no SAP employee, but a partner. The prices won´t drop by half. Why should I get worried? Otto

I am not worried either.

I even think it could be a good thing for us, SAP customers, because I think that SAP, as a company, needs a "cultural shock" .

For exemple, SAP should remember such an obvious thing, that the choices should be made by the customer and not the software vendor ! (the shock has already begun with the departure of the CEO).

But I would be worried if Microsoft was to buy SAP. That would be a software monopoly very bad for customers...

I'll buy it. Asset strip it, and then retire to the mountains.

If I had that kind of money, I would already be retired in the mountains !

Can you tell me why you need that kind of money to retire in the mountains ?

Do you feel to get peace with money ?

The sad thing about Matt is that since he has his new yuppy mobile phone, he does not even come down the mountain anymore to buy the daily paper

I have covered my risk of SAP being acquired by some major global IT pimp via hobby farming. There have been some blogs on SDN about increasing chickens' egg laying productivity using SAP, but other than that I am okay (I still use a bucket and select the eggs myself - e.g. when I see that the hen would really like to have chicks of her own and remains seated).

This is not infinately scalable, but still good farming and I believe also good software manufacturing practice.

Bar the UI, it is very difficult to evaluate the value of good software.

Cheers,

Julius

Reading about farming and hearing the hype about Facebook and [FarmVille|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FarmVille], I am wondering why we don't have such online games in SDN ...
