SAP Rankings

The other day I got a rather interesting email:

We have you listed on our SAP Rankings database (<link>). SAP companies use our information to contract and hire consultants/analysts directly with no middlemen or recruiters.

SAP Consultants and SAP Analysts use this online directory to create new opportunities, be contacted directly and establish SAP credibility. This service is free to consultants and analysts.

We need some more information about you to complete your SAP profile. Please spend 5 minutes completing this survey (click the URL below) so we can update your information.

The problem is I'm not a consultant and have never expressed any desire to be listed "on their database" or given them my information or permission. Since there was no link to "opt out", I checked the web site carefully in hopes to figure out what's the deal. While there, I've noticed at least a couple of esteemed SDN members (recognized from their profile pictures) listed on the same web site.

Does anyone know what is this web site and how do they get the data (randomly gather / steal / buy from LinkedIn/SDN?)? It could be a usefull web site for consultants, but the way it's setup (no information about the owners, for example) and the way they get their data seems rather shady to me.

I think its just another headhunter that has come up with a some what novel way of getting consultants to give them some of their info. I'm in there somewhere. Can't say its done me any good, but can't say its done any harm either.

If you have a need to look for projects every year or so, you might want to consider it. Sometimes I've gotten good projects from the the headhunter I least expected it from.
