Not sure if someone posted this who the original author was, but its pretty good:

SAP Germany team announced that an agreement has been reached on the adoption of minor changes to the current business language for the implementation of SAP. As part of the project management negotiations, it was conceded that a standard has to be established for common spelling in the SAP system and accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as SAP lingo.

In the first year "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Sertainly, sivil servants will resieve this news with joy. Also, the hard "c" will be replaced with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion but keyboards kan have one letter less.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced by "f". This will make words like "foto" 20 per sent shorter.

In the third year publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Project Managers will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"s in the languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" by "z" and "w" by " v".

During ze fifz year ze unesesary "o" kanbe dropd from vords kontaining "ou", and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al b speking German lik zey vunted in ze forst plas

Isn't this an old meme for the European commission?

I have seen it years ago: [http://www.google.bg/search?q="Duringzefifzyearze"EuropeanCommission]

Still, it's funny

This will need to be phased in over several major releases if the code comments are to be "lingo'ed" as well for ASAP understanding.

Some of the older system programs are very respected, also the commented out and inaccessible parts.

I read, write and speak German and when I see such comments or naming conventions then I read them carefully and use google and other tools.

Reminds me of one of the ancient flamewars from the ABAP OO forum:

These mis-translations came to my mind when I checked the course manual that a junior colleague just brought back from Walldorf,

ADM505, Datenbankadministration (Oracle), in German, version 62, Materialnummer 50086826

There is a chapter about the dreaded archiver stuck.

Luckily they resisted the temptation to translate archiver stuck. (Oh dear, better not to think of the possible outcome!)

But what they did in this context:

Protokollwechsel <-- log switch

I think the original had a little more text to it...

....During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.
