Pending Wiki - still incomplete

Hi All

I have started writing / editing a wiki of my own but it will take more days to finish it. It is currently under the 'PendingContent' parent page.

1. I want to know why this incomplete page is shown to all people when they search on SDN. (I don't have a problem, but it can be misleading to those who search, since its incomplete yet)

2. Also, I can just 'Save' the content whch i add/edit everytime. Is there a 'Submit' button after I finish writing the wiki? If not, how do I denote that it is ready for submission?

3. How do I restrict anyone from editing anything on the page till its complete?

Would appreciate some inputs as this is my first wiki.

Thanks!

Rgds,

Zub

Unlike a blog post that can be stored in Draft, a wiki page is collaborative publishing which means that others can edit, enhance, add, as you build. Do note that revisions are saved and can be seen under info and you can restore versions as well with the proper authorization.

An accepted practice while building content is to put an "under construction" note or graphic on the page.

In the case of wiki spaces, these can be kept "invisible" while they are being constructed and the invisibility is based on authorizations for the public to see content. Sometimes an area will be left invisible during the construction phase but I imagine your page is not an independent space.

There is good documentation under SCN Guidelines and if you need more intensive mentoring or help, Moshe Naveh has been absolutely terrific in helping folks with their wiki gardening.

Hi Marilyn / Others

Can I please know when would the following wiki be shifted from Wiki stage to the right area under FI - Asset Accounting ??

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/stage/DefiningDepreciationKeys

I am not worried about the po-in-ts but would like to know the time period for this wiki to be shifted in the correct area.

It has been more than 2 weeks since it was completed and I requested moderator to review it. But no action taken yet.

Thanks!

Rgds,

Zub

Moshe Naveh has been "watching the staging ground". I

Thanks for your patience.

I'll also take a look at the staging area.

At first blush, it looks like you have a done a good job of working with the wiki contents, so bravo on your first attempt.

On second blush...this looks to editors to have been plagiarized from help so it is pending ...or rather pending a investigation.

Why would you copy help documentation and embed it in the wiki?

I've just edited my response. This appears to have been copied from documentation. Why would you do that? And what value does that add?

Hi Zubin,

Thank you for your interest in the Wiki. The content your were referring to was reviewed by me almost two weeks ago. It was shifted to the "Pending Content" directory in the stage due to what Marilyn mentioned.

Best,

Moshe.

Moshe / Marilyn

It is an original attempt to show the procedure for defining depreciation keys.

The 'plagiarism' that you are talking about is just for the 'concepts' / 'terms'. I am no one to change the definition of the standard concepts in SAP.

Also, the process for such scenarios is defined nowhere in documentation. I have laid down a roadmap for beginners how to define the keys and which are the important parameters they should look into while doing that.

If you say that by copying the basic 'definitions' of concepts in only SOME parts of the wiki, it is wrong, then you can delete it.

Please do not let anyone see the 'plagiarised' content, as it might be a wrong guide for people.

It was my best effort to define a process. Also, you could well consider the Sources I have mentioned below.

Anyway, I guess everyone has their own definition for terms used in standard SAP in every wiki and blog.

Thanks for the co-operation.

rgds,

Zub
